An orange weather alert has been issued for parts of Malaga province amid fierce thunderstorms that are rumbling across the region.
The orange warning from state weather agency Aemet covers the Costa del Sol, Guadalquivir Valley and Ronda areas.
The affected areas are under the alert until 4am on Sunday, with up to 80mm of rain expected to accumulate over a 12-hour period.
The orange warnings have been upgraded, having been the less serious yellow until the downpours forced experts to change the nature o the alerts.
Elsewhere, yellow alerts for heavy rain remain in place in Antequera, Velez-Malaga, Huelva province and the entire province of Cadiz.
