World-famous chef Jose Andres has praised a charming restaurant in Sevilla as a ‘wonderful’ place to visit.
The Spaniard said Restaurante Barbiana, nestled in the historic centre, has ‘great tapas and excellent manzanilla’ wine.
Barbiana specialises in bringing the flavours of Sanlucar de Barrameda to the Andalusian capital, using top-quality fresh produce from the coasts of Cadiz and Huelva.
Founded in 1986 by Sanlucar native Manuel Sanchez Cuevas, the restaurant has remained faithful to traditional cooking, daily market ingredients and a warm, no-nonsense approach to hospitality.
‘Our blackboard menu changes every day, but the philosophy has been the same since 1986: fresh produce, honest cooking and doing things properly,’ the restaurant explains.
That consistency has won over diners for decades, and now one of Spain’s most recognisable chefs.

Andres has visited Barbiana several times and publicly praised it on social media, calling it ‘a wonderful place in Sevilla, with great tapas and excellent manzanilla’.
The restaurant, in turn, thanked the chef for returning ‘once again’.
Located at Calle Albareda 11, Barbiana offers a classic Andalucian bar atmosphere, ideal for high-quality tapas and seafood dishes inspired by Sanlucar’s maritime tradition.
From renowned Sanlucar prawns to comforting mariner’s stews, each plate reflects the freshness of the Atlantic and the simplicity of time-honoured recipes.
Open Monday to Saturday for lunch and dinner, Barbiana stands as a tribute to Cadiz cuisine in the centre of Sevilla.
