This is the dramatic moment a car caught fire next to a petrol station on the Costa del Sol.
Photos shared by firefighters show the vehicle completely engulfed by flames in Arroyo de la Miel in Benalmadena on Monday.
According to emergency services, the car was travelling along the road when the driver noticed smoke coming from the bonnet.
Sensing something was wrong, they pulled over onto the service road before getting out. It was then that flames began to appear.
Several members of the public called the 112 Andalucia hotline at around 10.20am, alarmed by the proximity of the fire to a petrol station.
The Málaga Provincial Fire Consortium was quickly deployed and succeeded in extinguishing the blaze.




Firefighters also carried out clean-up work on the road surface. The vehicle was completely destroyed by the fire.
Some traffic delays were reported at the time of the incident, although the DGT (traffic authority) said congestion was not significant.
