When planning a getaway, finding the right place to stay can make or break a trip.
But beyond location and guest reviews, most travellers in Spain turn to online price comparison sites, hoping to shave a few euros off their booking.
What many don’t realise, however, is that there’s a much easier way to find the lowest hotel price.
A Spanish travel content creator, Nerea Ohli (@ohlileven), recently shared a simple trick on social media that can save travellers up to €40 per stay, and all it takes is a quick download.
According to Nerea, the secret lies in installing a free Google Chrome extension called ‘Directo Extensión’.
Once added to your browser, it automatically scans hotel comparison sites and alerts you if the same property is cheaper elsewhere, usually on the hotel’s own official website.
The tool works seamlessly with major booking platforms. When you search for your destination, travel dates, and number of guests, the extension displays a small ‘D’ symbol if a better deal is available directly with the hotel.
In many cases, the difference can reach several dozen euros, savings that quickly add up, especially on longer stays.
Installing it is as straightforward as it gets – simply type ‘Directo Extensión’ into Google and follow the download link.
It’s a small, clever tool that’s proving popular among cost-conscious travellers in Spain.
