A hugely popular supermarket is opening yet another site on the Costa del Sol as part of its ambitious nationwide expansion plans.
The new location, opposite the La Colonia shopping centre in San Pedro de Alcantara, is making speedy progress.
The store, hoping to open in the coming months, is going to be a Lidl.
Original plans for the German chain’s store included a floor area of 1,500 square metres with 85 parking spaces outside, with plans to install chargers for electric vehicles.
The plans go back several years, with the multinational company wanting to open by 2024, however bureaucracy and planning delays pushed the start of construction back.
Lidl previously said the new supermarket will create more jobs after expanding its workforce in Andalucia by more than 20%.

Lidl has already surpassed 700 stores in Spain, with the number officially reaching the milestone in late 2024, before vowing to continue opening new locations in 2025.
The company invested over €330 million in 2024, opening around 30 new stores and further expanding its logistics network.
