The Policia Nacional has appealed for dog lovers to take in a ‘heroic’ retired police dog.
Yago, a male German Shepherd, is described as being ‘goof with adults and children’ although he does not get on with cats.
His profile is visible on the Heroes de 4 Patas website, where former police and other working dogs are put up for adoption or fostering.
The profile reads: ‘We’d like to introduce you to Yago. He’s a male German Shepherd. He’s retiring due to age.
‘He’s had an aural hematoma in his right ear since he was young, which doesn’t prevent him from leading a normal life, although he sometimes holds his head slightly tilted to that side.
‘He suffers from osteoarthritis in his left front elbow, for which he receives chondroprotectors and a monthly Librela injection.
‘He is a noble and obedient dog who gets along well with female dogs, is hesitant with male dogs, and is not suitable with cats. He is good with adults and children.
‘He is a dog that requires activity as he is still very fit.
‘If you would like to give him a home, please send an email to [email protected] and we will tell you how to proceed.’
