Two migrants have been filmed arriving to the Costa del Sol on a jet ski.

The brazen moment was captured on Mijas’s popular Marina beach on Thursday.

The two men had driven the jet ski through the designated swimming area, before abandoning it on shore and fleeing on foot.

The incident, which happened at around 6pm, initially appeared routine.

“It’s fairly common for a bather to bring a jet ski to shore and leave it parked while they go to a beach bar or grab something from a shop. We didn’t suspect anything unusual,” Gonzalo Botta Veccia, coordinator of the Mijas lifeguard service, told Malaga Hoy.

But alarm bells rang when one of the lifeguards told the pair they couldn’t leave the vehicle on the beach.

Instead of responding, the men removed their lifejackets and sprinted away without a word. They vanished before anyone could stop them.

The lifeguard team immediately alerted the Guardia Civil, who sent a patrol to the scene. Officers searched the surrounding area but found no trace of the fugitives.

Lifeguards then stepped in to secure the situation, hauling the jet ski off the sand and ensuring the swimming zone was safe.
