The family of a 26-year-old woman killed in a late-night car crash on the Costa del Sol say their world has been left shattered.
Silvia, a Fine Arts graduate and budding illustrator from San Pedro de Alcantara, died next to her boyfriend just before midnight on Sunday, September 14, when the car they were travelling in collided with another vehicle on the A-7175.
The driver of the car, a 20-year-old male, and her boyfriend’s nephew, has been arrested after tests by police showed he was over the alcohol limit.
Silvia’s sister Nuria Gonzalez, who described Silvia as her ‘little one’ and ‘soulmate,’ said she still cannot believe she will never again see her sibling’s smile.
‘She was still a child at heart, full of imagination,’ Nuria told El Español.

‘She loved games, loved to draw, she tattooed, and her hands were full of talent. She was just starting to live.’
A night that ended in tragedy
Silvia had been at a wedding with her boyfriend Jorge. The couple were returning home to San Pedro when disaster struck. Both were seated in the back of the car when the crash happened.
‘They loved each other with all their hearts. Jorge had found his soulmate – and then he had to watch her die. It’s unbearable,’ Nuria said through tears.
Jorge was left in a serious condition and remains in hospital.
Emergency crews, including Guardia Civil officers, local police, and firefighters, rushed to the scene.
Firefighters had to cut Silvia free from the wreckage, but paramedics were unable to save her.
A ‘beautiful soul’
Those who knew Silvia described her as an ‘alma bonita’ (beautiful soul) who found joy in small things, from sketching designs to stopping in the street to pet stray cats.
‘She loved rainbows,’ said Nuria, sharing a photo her sister had taken just days before her death, showing her gazing at a pink sky streaked with an arc of colour.
Now the family want her remembered not for how she died, but for the light she brought into the world.
‘She was our little one, and we are broken without her,’ said Nuria. ‘But I want everyone to remember her just as she was: pure heart, pure light.’
