Andalucia’s exports have enjoyed a bumper first half to 2025, according to the latest figures.
In the first six months of the year, the southernmost region’s exports totalled €21.337 billion, maintaining parity with the same period last year.
It was also the only of Spain’s three largest exporting regions to post a trade surplus, and accounted for 10.8% of the country’s exports, ranking third nationally.
With imports of €20.143 billion, Andalucia recorded a surplus of €1.194 billion and a coverage ratio of 106%, in contrast to Spain overall, which posted a €25.113 billion deficit and a coverage ratio of 89%.
What does Andalucia export?
- Agri-food remains Andalucia’s export backbone.
- Vegetables: €2.653 billion (+9.8%).
- Fruits: €2.399 billion (+13.7%).
- Olive oil: €2.394 billion (prices -19.1%, but sales volume +41% to 445,000 tonnes).
- Industrial sectors showed strong growth:
- Copper: €1.125 billion (+17.9%).
- Mining: €749 million (+29.1%).
- Iron and steel: €491 million (+85%).
- Energy exports fell sharply:
- Fuels and oils: €2.32 billion (-25.7%).
- Aircraft: -47%.
- Machinery/electrical equipment: -3.4%.
Pivot to China boosts sales
While the EU remains central, diversification outside Europe gained traction:
- Exports to China surged 18.1% (€716 million, 9th market).
- Portugal rose 7.8% (€1.934 billion, 3rd market).
- Italy and the Netherlands both saw modest growth (1.1% and 1.7%).
