Cadiz city in Andalucia, Spain

Cadiz province has enjoyed a bumper spring season for tourism, new figures show.

The province pulled in nearly 1.88 million visitors between April and June this year – a 3.5% rise on the same period in 2024.

The figures, released by the Institute of Statistics and Cartography of Andalucia (IECA), show that Cadiz accounted for 18.4% of all visitors to Andalusia in the second quarter.

The impressive performance makes it the second-most visited province after Malaga, which dominated with 27.9% of the regional total.

Holidaymakers made up the overwhelming majority of Cadiz’s guests, with 82.7% coming for leisure.

A further 13% travelled to see family or friends, while just 2% arrived for work, conferences or trade fairs.

The average stay has also edged upwards, with tourists spending 3.7 days in the province – up 5.2% year-on-year and slightly above Andalucia’s average of 3.5 days.

Spending habits are also trending in the province’s favour. Daily tourist expenditure has jumped 9.4% compared to last spring, reaching €93.50 per person per day, compared to €85 in 2024.

Visitor satisfaction remains sky-high, with Cadiz scoring 9.1 out of 10 in the IECA’s survey – the third-highest rating in the region. Only Jaen (9.4) and Sevilla (9.2) ranked higher.

The latest data reinforces Cadiz’s status as a tourism heavyweight, boosted by its beaches, gastronomy, and cultural heritage – as well as its growing popularity as a domestic weekend escape.

With the high summer season still in full swing, local businesses will be hoping the upward trend in both visitor numbers and spending continues over the summer and autumn.
