The body of a 44-year-old woman has been discovered on a beach on the Costa del Sol.
The unidentified corpse was found by horrified passersby at around 2.50am on Wednesday.
The body was recovered from the shore of Rincon de la Victoria, after being spotted by people walking along the Virgen del Carmen promenade.
They immediately called the 112 emergency number and paramedics, Guardia Civil and the local police were dispatched to the scene.
There was nothing the emergency services could do and her death was declared at the beach.
According to police sources, the corpse showed no obvious signs of violence.
The body was taken away for an autopsy which will reveal the actual cause of death.
The investigation continues.
