Two heavy-footed smugglers have been caught trying to sneak €145,000 worth of gold out of Spain.
The two men were found to have stashed the precious metal into the soles of their trainers.
They were intercepted by police while attempting to board a ship to Tangier (Moroccoa), from the southern Spanish port of Algeciras.

According to Spanish reports, the pair caught the attention of police officers due to their ‘suspicious behaviour’.
They were pulled aside by the Guardia Civil, who performed a search and ultimately found 1,800 grams of gold hidden in their shoes.
Specifically, 1,800 grams of gold foil were found stuffed beneath the insoles of the footwear.
The Guardia Civil said the market value of the haul is around €145,000.
