Over the past few weeks, wild boars have been repeatedly spotted roaming the beaches of Malaga province, from Estepona to Nerja, in what authorities are calling a growing ‘coastal incursion.’
Experts say the boars are venturing down from the hills due to drought, habitat loss, and, crucially, the scent of easy calories left behind by careless beachgoers.
What started as the odd sighting near woodland edges has now turned into full-blown beach invasions, complete with towel inspections and picnic raids.

In addition to the risk of property damage, the animals can be aggressive if cornered, especially in groups or with piglets.
The regional government is now considering reinforced measures, including traps and targeted removals, but the message to the public is simpler: stop feeding them, stop littering, and do not try to pet one.
