Two Brits have been arrested over a brutal mugging in the heart of Marbella’s Puerto Banus.
The suspects, aged 31 and 33, are accused of stealing a man’s bag containing €670.
They also assaulted the victim, who has not been named but is a German-born expat based in Ojen.
The 28-year-old required stitches to his hand following the attack last week.
He told police how he was approached by the two men who immediately tried to grab his bag.
A struggle ensued but he was beaten and shoved to the ground, enabling his attackers to flee with the stolen goods.
The incident was all recorded on Marbella’s new state-of-the-art surveillance system.
Officers from the Policia Local located the assailants a few minutes after attending to the victim and a chase followed.
The suspects jumped over a fence to hide in a construction zone but were quickly surrounded and had no place to go.
During the chase, one of them threw an envelope containing the stolen €670 to the ground.
Both men, born in the UK and officially residents of Southampton, were arrested for violent robbery and assault.
They will appear in court at a later date.
