An eight-year-old boy is in a serious condition after falling from a third-floor apartment in Ibiza.

The young lad was with his grandmother at the time of the accident in Sant Antoni on Tuesday.

According to the police report, the boy went to get a towel that was hanging over the balcony when he lost his balance and fell over the railing.

The event occurred at around 8.20pm on Calle Vedranell.

Paramedics rushed to the scene to stabilise the child before transferring him to the intensive care unit of the Nuestra Señora del Rosario Polyclinic.

Upon arrival at the center, the young patient had a severe traumatic brain injury, with a skull fracture, subdural hematoma and cerebral edema.

He was also diagnosed with a mandibular fracture, chest trauma with bilateral pneumothorax, and various other multiple injuries, reports Diario de Ibiza.

After emergency surgery by the clinic’s neurosurgery team, the boy was transferred to the better-equipped Son Espases Hospital in Mallorca.

He remains in a serious condition.
