A Frenchman has died while swimming in a community swimming pool on the Costa Blanca.
The 65-year-old came into trouble after entering the water in San Miguel de Salinas, an area popular among the expat community.
Emergency services were called at around 12.40pm, sparking the mobilisation of paramedics from SAMU.
Health workers could do nothing but confirm his death, despite their best efforts to revive him.

According to local reports, the cause of death remains unknown, although a stroke or other medical issue cannot be ruled out.
The Frenchman had reportedly suffered a stroke in January this year.
He had entered the pool at around 11.20am, in what was one of the first swims of the summer, with the pool having only recently been opened.
