An anti-tourism group in Malaga is promoting violence against holidaymakers in the latest sign that anger is reaching new heights in the Spanish city.

The GuirisGoHome Instagram page shared a drawing on Sunday which showed a tourist being beaten up.

The aggressive drawing is emblazoned with the words: ‘Violent anti-tourist command’ – suggesting the existence of a group dedicated to harming visitors.

One local’s reply to the image was shared by the GuirisGoHome page.

The reply said: ‘When mass tourism strips a city of its soul, dulls the lives of its inhabitants and turns its streets into a stage set for outsiders, movements in favour of violence are born.’

It comes after news that Malaga was named the ‘best city in the world’ by Nomad Capitalist infuriated locals last week.

The Costa del Sol capital was praised for its ‘relaxed lifestyle, thriving expat community, and easy access to beaches and national parks.’

But many residents of the city rushed to social media to ask prospective Brits, Americans or other ‘guiris’ to steer clear, with one simply commenting: ‘Please stop coming.’

One Spaniard wrote: ‘Best for expats, what about the impact those expats have on local communities?’

Another said: ‘Best place to live for the guiris’, next to three laughing emojis, while another claimed the city ‘is more English than Spanish’, while one claimed: ‘English have made it horrible.’

Another local fumed: ‘For non malagueñans, of course. We malagueñans had to leave our city to live further since living in Malaga is unbearable.’
