Budget airline easyJet has announced a new direct route between Sevilla and Liverpool this summer.
The new connection will begin on August 2, with two weekly flights operating every Thursday and Sunday between Sevilla’s Aeropuerto de Sevilla-San Pablo and Liverpool.
The route forms part of a wider summer expansion at Sevilla airport, which has introduced nine new connections for the season running from late March through to October.
Liverpool becomes the latest addition to easyJet’s growing network in the Andalucian capital, where the airline already operates eight other routes.
Among them are two additional UK connections – London Gatwick and Bristol – alongside European destinations including Amsterdam, Basel, Geneva, Lyon, Milan Malpensa and Berlin.
The German capital route was reinstated last October after several years suspended.
The move comes as British tourism to Sevilla continues to surge, helped by the recent launch of flights between Sevilla and London Heathrow Airport.
The UK is now one of the city’s fastest-growing visitor markets, with traveller numbers rising by 17.5% last year to more than 246,000.
British visitors also top the rankings for overnight stays, with more than 719,000 recorded, an increase of over 18%.
In terms of spending, the UK ranks as the third-largest international market, behind the US and France.
