After years of Easter downpours, there’s good news for processions and holidaymakers alike as Semana Santa in Andalucia is set to be mostly dry.
State weather agency Aemet is forecasting a largely stable week from March 29 to April 5, thanks to a strong Atlantic high-pressure system.
According to forecasters, the high-pressure system will act as a barrier, preventing rain-bearing systems from reaching southern Spain.
It will mean mostly clear skies and daytime temperatures slightly above average for this time of year.
It will come as a relief to cities like Sevilla, Malaga and Granada, where Easter processions depend heavily on dry conditions.
While afternoons will feel pleasantly warm, nights could be noticeably cooler.
Aemet says minimum temperatures will fall below average, due to clear skies allowing heat to escape more easily after sunset.
Forecasters aren’t completely ruling out the possibility of rain.

There is a chance that some instability could creep in from North Africa or the Alboran Sea, bringing brief showers on isolated days.
However, the overall picture remains stable, with the high-pressure system expected to dominate throughout the week.
Aemet also pointed out that, historically, Semana Santa in Andalucia tends to be relatively dry, particularly during the central days of the celebrations.
