A hotel worker in Torremolinos has suffered burns to his whole body after a steam pipe burst.

The horror incident occurred at around 8.35am on Friday (February 20).

The employee was found unconscious on the floor of a machine room.

His colleagues immediately called the 112 emergency hotline, who dispatched paramedics, firefighters and Policia Nacional officers to the scene.

The victim was treated at the scene before being rushed to Malaga’s Regional University Hospital.

The hotel is currently not open for guests.

Initial investigations suggest that a malfunction in the hotel’s hot water boiler system caused a steam pipe to rupture, leading to the burns.

The incident has been reported to the Labour Inspectorate, which will now investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
