Strong winds wrought havoc across Murcia on Saturday as gusts of over 100km/hr uprooted trees and destroyed walls.
The extreme conditions were brought by Storm Oriana, with the whole region placed on alert by state weather agency Aemet.
The yellow and orange level warnings were in place until at least midnight on Saturday night.
British homeowner Jennifer W revealed the complete destruction of her aviary in Camposol.
‘My aviary roof blew off in the night, all my birds are gone,’ she said, adding that she was ‘heartbroken’.
It came as planes were forced to abandon landings at Murcia’s international airport due to the harsh conditions.
One easyJet passenger Lynsey wrote: ‘Arrived in Murcia today for a three-day break. Honestly the worst flight I’ve ever been on, the turbulence at one point was terrible…
‘First landing aborted just as we were about to touch down then flying around whilst the decision was being made wether to try again or land elsewhere…




‘Second attempt successful but very scary, lots of hyperventilating and upset people, those pilots really do have some serious skills. First time ive ever actually joined in with clapping when a plane lands!’
Across Murcia, firefighters responded to hundreds of incidents over Friday and Saturday.
Pictures shared by the authorities showed rural roads blocked by fallen trees. In Murcia city, various walls were pictured destroyed or collapsed.
