This is the terrifying moment a suspected tornado tore through a bar in Cadiz.

The footage emerged from Barbate on Saturday, during the height of Storm Marta.

The Atlantic storm – the eighth of this year – had placed the whole of Cadiz province under a weather alert for strong winds and rain.

In the clip shared on X, people can be heard screaming in fear as the brutal burst of wind blasts down the street and rattles the awnings of a local bar.

Barbate is a traditional fishing village – and the tuna capital of the world – situated on the Atlantic coast of the province.

It means it would have been exposed to the severe winds and any potential waterspouts making landfall from the ocean.

Elsewhere on the Cadiz coast, an electricity pylon was blown over, also by a possible tornado.

The MeteoCadiz weather watch channel posted on X: ‘More images are arriving of fallen electrical towers due to a possible tornado caused by Storm Marta.

‘Little by little, during the night and thanks to the work of the technicians, the electricity service has been restored to a large part of the affected municipalities.’

The worst of the weather is now over, although Grazalema and the Campo de Gibraltar remain on yellow alerts for rain on Monday.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation, most importantly the flow of the rivers and the safety of the ground, which has become incredibly soaked.
