The mother of a British expat found dead inside his Almeria home last year has vowed to ‘find the scum responsible’ – and is now offering a €20,000 reward for any information that leads to an arrest.
The body of Brett Dryden, 35, was found covered in blood in Mojacar on July 21, 2024.
There were clear signs of a struggle and his phone and wallet were missing, alongside up to €8,000 in cash
Initially, local police declared no signs of criminality, claiming nothing had been stolen and that Brett had died of a pulmonary embolism.
They later admitted a robbery had taken place when a post-mortem revealed a catalogue of injuries, including to his neck, face, arms and leg, and a large wound to his head.
Pathologists also found there was internal bleeding in his brain.
Incredibly, despite two suspects seen on CCTV fleeing his home moments after the estimated time of death, Spanish authorities closed the case in September.

His mother Sandra Dryden has since employed private investigators in a bid to find the truth and get the case reopened.
Speaking to the Spanish Eye today, she confirmed that a €20,000 reward will be paid to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest of the perpetrators.
She said that she believes the killers were someone Brett knew or was familiar with.
‘I strongly believe Brett knew them and so did his dog, because he would’ve protected Brett if he didn’t,’ she said.
She said this Christmas has been ‘terrible’ without Brett, especially as it was his favourite time of year.

Sandra said: ‘It’s terrible you know, he’s wasn’t a thug, he was a very kind lad, very family driven.
‘His little girl said to me that she was crying for her daddy she misses him so much. I won’t stop until I find the scum who took his life.’
Sandra continued: ‘It’s been awful this Christmas, I’ve cried for days.
‘Christmas was Brett’s favourite time of year, he always would be home. We miss him so much, if it wasn’t for fighting for justice for him I wouldn’t be here.
‘He was my world, my first born, my only son, I’m dreading the New Year as it means another year without our son.
‘Brett’s stepdad Rob is totally lost without him, they were best friends.’
