A 41-year-old pilot has died after his plane crashed in a rural area of Mazarambroz, in the province of Toledo.
Emergency services in Castilla-La Mancha confirmed that the alarm was raised at 11.23am on Wednesday, after the light aircraft went down near the Dehesa El Castañar area of the municipality.
According to official sources, the light plane had taken off from the Casarrubios aerodrome, near Madrid, and was heading towards a destination in the province of Cadiz, Andalucia, when contact was suddenly lost.
A search operation was immediately launched, involving the Guardia Civil, air rescue services, firefighters from Orgaz, and personnel from Infocam, the regional forest fire and emergency response service.
The aircraft was later located at the crash site, where emergency crews confirmed the pilot’s death. No other occupants were on board.
An investigation has been opened to determine the cause of the crash.
