A 35-year-old man died while being restrained and arrested inside a Torremolinos shop on Sunday night.
The unnamed individual is accused of attempting to rob a mobile phone store on Calle Hoyo at around 7.45pm.
According to the 112 emergency service, it was the Policia Nacional who requested an ambulance, after the alleged thief went into cardia arrest.
He had reportedly been arrested by officers for an attempted violent robbery.
The suspect was held inside the store by customers until the police arrived, who found him in a ‘highly agitated’ state.
Several officers arrived as back up to ‘subdue’ and arrest the suspect. He then went into cardiac arrest.

Officers began CPR and an ambulance was requested from the 112 Emergency Service, but he died at the scene.
Images shared online showed municipal funeral services collecting the body near Calle Maestra Miret.
In video footage shared on Instagram, dozens of people can be seen gathering at the scene.
