An earthquake has been felt by residents in Almeria.
The 3.0-magnitude quake startled many in their beds after striking off the Andalucian coast in the early hours of Saturday morning.
According to the Instituto Geografico Nacional (IGN), the quake’s epicentre was located in the eastern Alboran Sea, part of the Levante Sur region, at a shallow depth of just six kilometres.
Its coordinates were pinpointed at a short distance from the Almería coastline.

Felt but no damage
Emergency services confirmed that the tremor was indeed felt in parts of Almería province.
However, 112 Andalucía reported no incidents or damage, and no calls were made by concerned residents beyond those noting the shaking.
Seismic activity in southern Spain
The Alborán Sea, nestled between Andalucia and Morocco, is one of Spain’s most seismically active regions due to the complex interaction between the Eurasian and African tectonic plates.
While small quakes are common, experts remind that most are too weak to cause damage.
Saturday’s event serves as a reminder of the region’s underlying seismic risk, though authorities stress there is no cause for alarm.
