A murder probe is underway after the bloodied body of a 23-year-old man was found on a beach in Almeria.
The grim discovery was made on Thursday morning in Las Negras, Nijar, when a passerby reported seeing ‘a man covered in blood’ laying on the beach.
An autopsy carried out at the Institute of Legal Medicine (IML) in Almeria revealed the victim had suffered a blow to the head.
Judicial sources confirmed that Almeria’s Court of Instruction No. 4 has opened proceedings to clarify the circumstances.

Emergency services quickly mobilised after the 112 emergency hotline received a call at around 10.50am.
Local Police, paramedics from the 061 health emergency service, and Guardia Civil all rushed to the scene. The area was immediately cordoned off as officers began initial investigations.
According to early reports, investigators ruled out an accident, focusing instead on the likelihood of foul play.
The victim, a Spanish national from a nearby town, has not yet been publicly identified. Guardia Civil sources told Europa Press they are now working under the hypothesis that third parties may have been involved.
Forensic teams are continuing to collect evidence, witness statements, and scene samples as they try to piece together the young man’s final hours.
The incident has shaken the small coastal town of Las Negras, popular with locals and tourists alike.
Residents expressed dismay at the killing, describing the cove as a normally peaceful spot.
