This is the moment two enormous rats terrified beachgoers on the Costa del Sol this week.

Footage shared on Instagram shows the rodents scurrying along the beach in Fuengirola.

The woman recording the clip can be heard screaming as she notices the first rat emerging from underneath the promenade.

It is then joined by a second that appears to be squeeze itself out of a pipe.

The young women can be heard yelping once more as they run away from the scene.

The clip was shared by community Instagram page @Fuengirolasequeja.

One local commented: ‘Yes, it’s incredible how many there are, and not just on the beach at night, I see them in large numbers…during the day, right in the centre, they walk from store to store.’

Another warned: ‘And those are small, at dawn some come out that are just too big, these are nothing like the ones I’ve seen.’
