A 47-year-old Bulgarian man has been arrested in Marbella after allegedly beating his ex-partner to death near a petrol station on Saturday.
The victim, a 50-year-old Spanish woman, was found dead in a vacant lot off Calle Velez, close to where the pair had both worked as parking attendants, according to police sources cited by La Opinion de Malaga.
The alleged killer is said to have turned himself in moments later at the Marbella Local Police station.
Initial findings suggest the woman – identified only by her initials, P.J.A. – suffered a violent beating.
If confirmed, it would mark yet another chilling instance of gender-based violence in Spain.
The woman was not listed in the Interior Ministry’s VioGen system, meaning there were no prior complaints or restraining orders on record – a detail that often emerges in these tragic cases.
The investigation remains open as police piece together the events leading up to the killing and await confirmation from forensic teams, though all signs point to another femicide in a country grappling with the ongoing scourge of domestic abuse.
