A so-called migrant boat ‘taxi’ has been filmed brining around 20 people to shore in southern Spain.
The footage was recorded on Levante beach in Cabo de Palos, Cartagena, this week.
In the clip, a small, white motorboat packed with occupants can be seen approaching the shoreline.
As it gets closer to the beach, the occupants begin jumping into the water and swimming to towards the shore.
At one moment, the smugglers begin throwing the migrants into the water.
The local resident recording the footage on their mobile phone can be heard saying: ‘Oh my god… loo how they’re throwing them out, that’s crazy.’
According to reports in local press, the Guardia Civil has intercepted 10 of the migrants ‘so far’, adding that the search operation is still active.
A seat on such ‘taxis’ usually costs between €3,000 and €5,000 per person.
It means the smugglers are making around €60,000 per trip.
