Mystery surrounds a decomposing body that was found ‘dumped’ near the Costa del Sol.

The corpse, in ‘an advanced state of decomposition’, was discovered just a 20-minute drive inland from the British expat haven of Torre del Mar.

The grisly find was made at the Baloja intersection in El Borge on Monday afternoon, according to the 112 emergency service.

Sources quoted by Malaga Hoy say a motorcyclist first alerted authorities to the corpse at around 6pm.

Police believe the person had been dead for several days before being found.

The Guardia Civil is leading the investigation and has so far released no further details about the deceased.

The incident has shocked residents in the surrounding Axarquia region.

According to sources, there are no reports of missing people or traffic accidents in the area.
