A teenager has been hospitalised in Spain after discovering the kebab she was eating was filled with metal staples.
The young girl’s mother, Susana Vargas, insists her daughter ‘could have died’ following the incident in Avenida Lusitania, Merida, Badajoz.
On April 27, the family decided to end a ‘perfect’ day out by getting a kebab – but their idyllic evening quickly turned into a nightmare.

Susana told Extremedura 7 Dias: ‘At first she noticed something hard, but as she has braces, she didn’t pay much attention.
‘She went in for a second bite and spat it into her cup and saw several staples.’
Susana rushed her daughter to Merida Hospital, where an X-ray revealed she had ingested a staple.
‘The doctors did not know what to do and I was distraught,’ Susana added.
The girl was taken to a children’s hospital in Badajoz, where doctors assured her she would pass the staple without problems.
The restaurant said it is ‘collaborating fully with the authorities’ to get to the bottom of what happened, but Susana believes it was not an accident.
‘A carelessness is a hair, not a load of staples,’ she fumed, adding that she has filed a ‘denuncia’ with the authorities.
‘My daughter could have died,’ she added.
